Get you some cajun -ya hear

Steamboat Bill’s
Lake Charles, LA

This was my first time visiting Louisiana, but not my first to time to shrimp boil, crawfish and all this Cajun. A big group of us went to Steamboat Bill’s and had all types of dishes, from gumbo to catfish, oysters to Bourbon pecan pie, this place had it all.
When you go in you get a menu, step aside and figure out what you want then approach the counter to order. That the order rules here, really I think it was to tempt you with the homemade deserts.
On to my order, ½ boiled shrimp, 2 potatoes, 2 corns and coleslaw.  Mine came out quick! Everyone else’s took a bit longer since they got mostly fried items. The gumbo came out along with my plate. As the gumbo was being passed around, I made sure to get my heap full. It had smooth flavor and it was spiced nicely. My peel in eat shrimp had is moment in the camera spotlight, now it’s time to get down to business. I dumped some Creole seasoning on my plate and dug in.  I really enjoy this type of meal, one you can really get in there and get your hands dirty. Nice and spicy, I love the flavor that the corn and potato’s have after being boiling together with shrimp or crawfish. I wish the shrimp would have a bit more flavor, but I had hot sauce so, either way I was covered, you can’t eat this type of food without Creole spices, period!
Others at the table started eye balling my plate, so I traded shrimp or clams, bread, and bit and pieces off of others plates.  I swear hands down that I ordered the best thing on the menu.
After we were done it was time for dessert. Have had the pecan bourbon pie in my sites before I even ordered my plate of food, so of course I got that. Sugar mixed with bourbon, what dessert is wrong with any type of alcohol made in it? DE-LISH! The crust was nice a buttery, the filling had a smooth butter- bourbon mix. With crunchy pecans on top, this was a great item to kick the ole’ sweet tooth.
